ACFW Gala Bound!

I’ll be sharing all that I learned from the conference of the American Christian Fiction Writers during the next couple of weeks, but I thought you might like to know about the Gala on Saturday night! Felt like a red carpet event! And the carpet was reddish, so …

As I got ready in a borrowed room, I shared this little clip!

The chair desk chair that grabbed the edge of my skirt and ripped it to pieces.

My poor skirt with a 6-inch tear across the bottom.

Epilogue

Mirror image of me in my dress.Just after I shot that video and took the pictures, my sweet friend Lee Carver came in. “Oh I have a needle and some black thread, I’ll just stitch that right up for you!”

I was dumbfounded because I thought it irreparable. But it looked perfect! I’m so grateful for a good friend to help save my evening and yes, I felt PRETTY! On key even!

And if you’d like to learn what the top books in Christian Fiction were for last year, here is the link to the Carol Award winners! Excellence on a page!

There are more stories to tell, but the night was amazing, and the fact that I could feel confident in my outfit made big impact on that attitude. Woohoo!

Your turn: When was the last time something threatened to ruin an important occasion for you?

Marji is a homeschooling mom with teenage twins left in the nest. She spends her days transporting to and from volleyball, teaching writing classes at a local coop, and directing the children’s music program at her church. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy. She invites readers to unravel their inspiration, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Lord’s Great Mystery that invites us all.

  5. You’re right, Marji. That was an incredible weekend (which for us actually started on Wednesday morning). I was on vacation so I consider the whole week a weekend, so there.
It was so good to finally meet you and see that you are actually a real person not just a flat face on my computer screen. I’m looking forward to attending many more ACFW conferences!!!
