I Love a Good Mystery!

Devotion by Sharon Srock

I’m so blessed to have Sharon Srock sharing from her heart today about friendships, how they’ve played a key role in her life and in the creation of her novel, Callie.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (KJV)

12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

This became one of my favorite verses as I wrote Callie’s story.

The Women of Valley View series focuses on a group of women friends. They love each other, support each other, and stand with each other. But, like any group of women you encounter, there are individual hurts, secrets, and trials, all made easier by the support of those friends.

I’ve experienced this in my own life. There was a time when I thought it was necessary to separate myself from my church family. During that same time circumstances also separated me from the person who had been my best friend and sounding board. I found myself alone, facing the worst trial of my life.

It took a tragedy in my church family to bring me back, to find out that the reasons I left in the first place were all my own. I came to offer support of my own to a circle of friends that I missed more than I could have imagined. They welcomed me back with open arms, and they have supported me through life and death in the years since.

(Marji here. Couldn’t resist adding this music video to Sharon’s devotion. It seemed to go perfectly! Circle of Friends by Point of Grace.)

Once I began to write, I found unmined depths in those forty year old friendships. I don’t think I’d be published today if it weren’t for the encouragement of friends who believed in me, when I didn’t believe in myself.

Your turn: How have your friendships kept you going?

Marji again. I’m so glad that Sharon Srock came back by this week! Her debut women’s fiction novel, Callie, released on the 26th of October and is available from Barnes and NobleAmazon, or the Penguin Website.

Author: Marji Laine

Marji is a recently "graduated" homeschooling mom whose twin girls have blessed her by sticking around the nest for a little longer. She spends her days directing the children’s music program at her church and working with the authors of Write Integrity Press to put out the best possible version of their books. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy. She invites readers to unravel their inspiration, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Lord’s Great Mystery that invites us all.
