You’ll See, or Hear, the Truth to My Claim

I’m so flattered that Lena Nelson Dooley asked me to join her on her internet radio show! I’m so excited and you’ll get a chance to hear for yourself just how much of a hick I am when you listen to the recording!

Did I ever tell you about my trip to Mexico a couple of decades ago? Oh, that’s a story!

So I went on this great mission trip many, many moons ago, which testifies to how deeply embedded this accent of mine is. I’d been told by the mission board that a Texas Driver’s license was all that airport security needed to let me back into the country. Well, what did I know about international travel?

No, they didn’t accept a driver’s ID as appropriate entry. Not even back then. But apparently they accepted hick as an acceptable alternative. When the security guard told me my license wouldn’t be enough, I let off with a, “Yore kiddin’ me!”

He laughed. “Honey, you couldn’t be from anywhere else but here, huh?”

How embarrassing. But at least I didn’t embarrass myself during my interview with Lena. No burping or excessive sniffing or anything. Except the accent. And that just has to be experienced. You can find the 12/20/12 The Gate Beautiful show at the link, or look it up at blogtalkradio.com.
