. . . Authentic and Intense

Review – New Must Read!

Oh, friends, I found a treasure! How did I miss this author for so long! Well, I won’t miss her anymore, that’s for SURE! This book has everything: blood-curdling intensity, challenging mystery, fiery romance. A definite MUST READ!

Tidewater InnI can certainly see why Colleen Coble is an award-winning best-seller. Tidewater Inn is the first of her books that I read, but it won’t be my last. As for suspense, the action felt non-stop. The moment I got the opportunity to relax after one intense situation, another unexpected situation exploded. So satisfying!

The plot is exceptional. I felt my insides turning while “witnessing” the initial event. And throughout the book, I felt myself knotting up every time the story shifted to a precarious situation. I could certainly feel the turmoil of the main character, Libby Holladay, as a parade of difficult circumstances compounded on one another. No, I didn’t solve the mystery, but that didn’t even bother me! I felt so immerse in the lives of these characters, and the situations in which they found themselves, the event of the mystery just added a cherry to this dessert!

And as to the characters, these should be real people. Each character had endearing qualities, like loyalty and determination. But they also had problems, errors in judgment, foolish mistakes. They struggled, as we all do, with their relationships, including a relationship with God. I loved the way Colleen Coble added pertinent scripture and Truth when her characters dealt with impossible situations. That’s the time, in real life, when anyone’s thoughts will turn to the Lord and their own spiritual maturity. So refreshing to experience the poignant moments with Libby, Alec, and others.

Here’s what Colleen said about Tidewater Inn.

I’m excited to find Colleen Coble! You can bet I’ll be reading more of her books. And despite my adoration of Dani Pettrey’s Shattered, you can find my review HERE, Tidewater Inn has taken first place in my list of 2013 faves with ease. In fact, I would say it is my all-time favorite book, even better than Pride and Prejudice, what?!

If you’re a fan of Christian Romantic Suspense, this book is for you – hands down, no question.

Your turn: When was the last time you couldn’t put a book down? What was it?

Author: Marji Laine

Marji is a homeschooling mom with teenage twins left in the nest. She spends her days transporting to and from volleyball, teaching writing classes at a local coop, and directing the children’s music program at her church. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy. She invites readers to unravel their inspiration, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Lord’s Great Mystery that invites us all.

  1. Was this just released? I thought I pre-ordered it on Amazon but haven’t gotten it yet.

    • No, because I set out copies on the tables when we set up the bookstore at ACFW. I remembered seeing them then, and I wasn’t doing the ARC table, so it must have been released by 9/12. Might’ve been brand new at that point, though.

  3. I recently read Deborah Kinnard’s time-travel romance, Seaons in the Mist. It was hard for me to put it down. I love historical fiction and this one truly delivered. The details of life in fourteenth century Cornwall really drew me into the story. I can’t wait for the sequel!
