I Love a Good Mystery!

Award Winning! Woohoo!

Hubby teased me yesterday when I texted my arrival time to him. He said, “I’m sorry. I only pick up AWARD-WINNING AUTHORS at the airport.”

He followed that up with, “Oh that’s right. That’s YOU!” Such a sweetie!

Third Place for my novel Counter Point

Still buzzy about this award! So excited and so blessed with an incredible week of learning and meeting amazing people at the Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers’ Conference!

I really had a special group of gals to hang with. We were a sampling from all over the nation – okay, 3 from Texas, but still. We wrote children’s, YA, non-fiction, speculative and were both published and unpubbed!

These 7 gals meant so much to me this week!

Back: Ginger Solomon, Jennifer Slattery, Marji Laine, Joanne Sher
Front: Carole Towriss, Tanya Eavenson, Lill Kohler, Mary Hamilton

We prayed together, worshiped together, laughed – a lot! Even ate together from time to time. Though our classes were generally different, we had such fun waving at each other across campus.

The best was having them around me at the award ceremony. Getting a hug from one of them just as I came off the stage. Such a blessing!

I doubt we will all be in one place at the same time again, but you can bet we will share online hugs and prayers throughout our careers and have a built in buddy the next time we do share a conference together!

Your turn: When did the Lord bring a complete stranger into your life that made a huge impact?

Marji is a recently "graduated" homeschooling mom whose twin girls have blessed her by sticking around the nest for a little longer. She spends her days directing the children’s music program at her church and working with the authors of Write Integrity Press to put out the best possible version of their books. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy. She invites readers to unravel their inspiration, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Lord’s Great Mystery that invites us all.

    • Me too! I tucked everyone’s blog address into a file on my browser bar. Intention is to visit those blogs regularly. Have I gotten to any of them yet? *head smack*
