In a few weeks, wait, less than three – YIKES – I travel to Indianapolis to a national writing conference for the American Christian Fiction Writers. This is a huge conference where authors, writers, agents, and editors all mingle. I’ll be meeting with at least one editor, and going to several intense workshops to hone my writing and learn more about the publishing industry in general.
And I LOVE the idea that Laurie Tomlinson had!
One of the best things about the ACFW conference is connecting with online buddies! Tweet This!
And this little Mix and Mingle is a great way to do just that! If you are planning to go to the conference, copy the questions and create an article with your answers on your own site, then visit Laurie’s site and enter your information in the link application. While you’re there, visit the other links to see others who are attending!
Here are my answers:
Name: Marji Laine
Location: Dallas, TX
What you write/tagline: Romance-Suspense / Faith~Driven Fiction
Place in the book world: Officially published with one collaborative novella, and a short story published in a collection. Another collaboration novella comes out this December with a third following in February. I have two completed novels that I’ll be pitching.
On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: The word Texas means friendship. Oh yes, I hug.
The unique talking point that will get you going for hours: Analyzing movies or books, particularly characters.
People at home you’ll be missing: Sweet Hubby, Precious Redhead, Dinky Twinkies, a Lab-mix, and a Beagle-mix. I’ll be missing Dear Son as well, but he’ll be in Africa by then.
Conference goals we can pray for? I actually won the registration fee for this conference, so I know the Lord has sent me there. I don’t know whether it is to sell my books or to use me for some other purpose. My prayer is that my eyes will stay open and focused so I can see what He wants me to do.
Up for any contests/awards? Nope, just looking forward to good teaching.
Any disclosures, disclaimers, or crucial information we must know? I have a horrific memory – definitely not an auditory learner – so I’m bitterly bad at remember names. I even have trouble with faces sometimes.
That it. If you are going to the conference, I hope you’ll look me up! I love getting to meet and interact with writer types! It’s like we speak the same language!
