In Guatemala, Ruby encountered issues from her parents’ history. The decisions they made there changed their lives and their futures.

Psalm 37:4 say, “Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” How hard to continue when expectations for life change, sometimes drastically, and the dreams that were clung to must be released. But even through that heartbreaking time, if following God’s will is the focus beyond personal desires or expectations, He moves the heart to fall into step with His plan.

That’s the key. The verse doesn’t make God a genie of the lamp. He inspires His child to dream His dream.

He promises in Jeremiah 29:11 that He gives hope and a future. That’s a lifelong promise ready to be claimed.

Your Turn: Have you had times in your life when your plans disintegrated? Do you see how the Lord led you through them all? What is a specific time in which you could see His hand carry you through a drastic change?
