stretch armstrongDear Sis,

Remember that old toy I got. I had to be no more than five years old. It was an action figure with blond hair only bigger than the little miniatures today. Stretch something. Anyway, he was full of some type of gel and would stretch like Mr. Fantastic.

Well, I’m that guy. No, really. I had dinner tonight with two Barbie clones. Twins. When they sat down, my shields went up right away. But they seemed friendly and nice enough. I sat back and listened mostly. Until they began talking about the Karaoke special after dinner. Brandi decided I was going with her and we would sing a duet.

Yeah, right. Me sing. On a stage. That’s gonna happen.

But I didn’t get the chance to decline before her sister Candi insisted I was her date and we would sing “Endless Love.” Blah. Give me a break.

I tried to interrupt, but Brandi put a clamp on my hand and pulled me off the chair. She wanted to sing “I’ve Had the Time of My Life.” I told her I had some things I needed to do, but she wouldn’t hear it. And her sister came up on my other side as soon as we exited the dining room.

BarbieThey seriously pulled in opposite directions, but they weren’t all that strong. I brought them together. Wanted to say, Ladies, don’t fight. You’re both pretty. But I sure didn’t want to encourage them. Instead, I begged off quick and sprinted for my quarters.

Count your blessings. Left to your devices you might have Barbie as a sister-in-law.

Your loving, if not bruised, brother,

Brenton

Marji is a recently "graduated" homeschooling mom whose twin girls have blessed her by sticking around the nest for a little longer. She spends her days directing the children’s music program at her church and working with the authors of Write Integrity Press to put out the best possible version of their books. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy. She invites readers to unravel their inspiration, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Lord’s Great Mystery that invites us all.
