presentDear Sis,

I visited the duty-free shop on the ship today. Trying to decide on a souvenir for you. Don’t argue. You deserve something truly special. I’m having some trouble, though. I can’t choose between the stuffed cougar or the mounted barracuda.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASeriously. I have come to believe I know exactly what one of their targets of prey feels like.

And I don’t like it.

Don’t get me wrong. There have been some lovely ladies that I’ve encountered. Beauty that has been inside as well as outside. Sweet spirits, spunky personalities, and sincere companions.

cougarStop thinking about flowers and organ music. I’m just saying that spending time with a woman no longer stirs up the pain that Mara left behind. I guess that wasn’t your purpose for this trip, matchmaker, but it has dispelled your greatest vexation. I’m happy for Mara. I really mean that this time. I’ve met some special ladies who have shown me that my heart is no longer in hibernation.

I won’t say that I’ve found my soul mate. Not that I haven’t. I won’t declare it either way. But I will say that the path God has for me is much clearer now than it was 14 days ago.

It’s crazy to think how things can change so drastically in just a couple of weeks. I do look forward to getting home, but now to set out in the future the Lord is revealing instead of just running from this crazy ship.

Love you lots and see you soon,

Brenton

She spends her days transporting to and from volleyball, teaching writing classes at a local coop, and directing the children’s music program at her church. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy.
