I’ve had such a blessing this week. I’m building a book of devotions and this week, I got to add all of the extras to the articles.
Know what I mean? Devotions often have scriptures, application questions, and prayers added onto them. That’s what I was adding to the daily articles.
But I added something special to these devotions. I remember when I used a devotion book on prayer decades ago. The author had added hymn titles to help me dig even deeper into the topic. So I used his idea.
Only I used worship songs from Youtube. I love technology! Because of Amazon e-books, I was able to link the perfect song to go with each of the devotions. These songs that the Lord picked out really impacted me. By the time I finished with the scripture and songs, the prayers came pouring out. I had the most wonderful time of worship for about nine hours yesterday.
And I won’t soon forget the sweet time.
But my relations ship with the Lord must have more interaction than one or two days a week.
Jesus makes it clear that our life as a Christian requires daily attention. “”If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Luke 9:23 NASB
I’m to daily set aside my selfish desires. Daily seek Him so I can stay in His steps. My time in corporate worship and discipleship classes, while important, doesn’t even enter into this daily time.
This is personal. My private time with my best Friend.
Think about it: how can you enjoy a close relationship with someone and never spend any time with him or her. Never share thoughts inspirations.
The same holds true for your relationship with your Heavenly Father. Spend time with Him in prayer. Get to know Him through His word.
It’s essential. It’s worth your time. It’s such a blessing!
Your turn: My quiet time is generally in the morning, first thing, but when I miss it, I catch it up at another moment during the day. When do you have a quiet time? What do you do when miss it?
