I’ve so enjoyed working with this outstanding group of authors. I wanted to share a little more about all of them this week as a lead in to our Thursday night party!
Mistletoe Madness, launching our Christmas novella collection, is live on Facebook from 7-10PM. Here’s the link! Hope you’ll join the fun! The Party’s Here!
In the meantime, meet debut author, Karen Jurgens! I had a few questions for my co-authors, especially for the Christmas holiday season.
What is your fondest memory of the holiday season?
Each year, we have treasured traditions we follow, but the fondest revolve around food. We have a Christmas Eve dinner of homemade soup and smoked turkey sandwiches after we return from church. Before opening presents on Christmas morning, we have a brunch that features eggs and ham, fresh fruit, and popovers with strawberry butter. Our Christmas dinner is that night, where we feast on a filet of beef, vegetables, and Caesar salad. And there are at least three or four luscious desserts after every meal.
What is your funniest or most romantic memory of the holiday season?
Our poodle, Babette, was a hoot at Christmas. She would stay up all night on Christmas Eve to guard the presents under the tree. She knew that she had gifts, and couldn’t wait to open hers. On Christmas morning, it was so cute to watch her tear off the paper and dig out her new toys and bones. Even at dinner, she insisted that her Christmas bowl be served in the dining room with the family.
Something few people know about you?
When I was fifteen, I studied in La Rochelle, France, for the summer. We took a side trip to Spain one weekend and were served chicken for lunch. Right after that meal we went swimming in the ocean, and I felt sick as I struggled to get out of the strong undertow and high waves. Then it hit. Half of our group came down with food poisoning, and three of us landed in a French hospital overnight.
And here’s a little about her story, “A Mosaic Christmas.”
My sorority sister, Janice, wrote: “Karen, I absolutely love your story! I want more! Your descriptive writing is so enjoyable. I love ‘Epsilon Eta’ and the prestigious Alpha Gammas. The Christian message is woven so well into a very realistic story.”
