I Love a Good Mystery!

Brent’s Emails

love boat bachelor

When I get my hands on my very first print book, you’ll know about it! Promise!

It’s really funny how this series all came about. Mara really started it all, leaving a trail of wonderful, kind, fun, and genuine characters in her wake.

And did I mention heartbroken? Well, we couldn’t jest leave the poor guys like that! And so, The Love Boat Bachelor was born. Well, he was actually closer to 30 years old when he became The Love Boat Bachelor.

But the title wasn’t his fault. Blame his meddling sister and his well-meaning best friend for contriving to get this poor guy some loving, because in his own thoughts, Romance was a joke.

After the love of Brent Teague’s life came back into his world only to marry someone else, Brent was through with women. Maybe with being a pastor, too. He had been sure that God brought Mara Adkins home to him, so they could marry and live happily ever after. With her wedding to another man, that theory was obviously a dud. If Brent could be so wrong about that, who was to say he wasn’t mistaken about God calling him to pastoral ministry?

Tired of watching Brent flounder for direction, Brent’s feisty older sister booted him out of Spartanburg and onto a cruise ship. Brent’s old college buddy managed the ship’s staff, and was thrilled to finagle Brent into the role of chaplain for the two-week cruise. As the ship set sail, Brent started to relax. Maybe a cruise wasn’t such a bad idea after all. But there was just one little thing no one told him. His trip wasn’t any ordinary cruise. He was on The Love Boat.

What was a sworn bachelor to do on a Caribbean cruise full of romance and love? He’ll either have to jump ship or embrace the unforgettable romantic comedy headed his way. And you can bet his sister got an earful, or at least an eyeful, when he realized how she’d manipulated him. In fact, he sent her an email every day, and we just happen to have them here for your pleasure.

Your Turn: Research for this cruise (my island was St. Maarten) was so much fun! Reminded me of the cruise I took with my family to Cozumel several years ago. have you ever been on one? What was your fondest memory of it?

She spends her days directing the children’s music program at her church and working with the authors of Write Integrity Press to put out the best possible version of their books. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy. She invites readers to unravel their inspiration, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Lord’s Great Mystery that invites us all.
