Marji Laine: Faith~Driven Fiction

Roughing It

ruffing itCan I be honest?

I’m not an outdoorsy type of person. I just don’t get the thrill of sweat and bugs and sunburns and bug and smoky fires and… oh, yeah. BUGS!

I’m not a fan.

My new, precious daughter-in-love is way into camping and hiking. Her folks have a farm, and being outside is a thrill for her. In fact, if she’s inside, she’s usually huddled under a blanket.

Epiphany! She’s terribly cold-natured. LOVES Texas summers.

I’ve lived here all my life, but nothing drives me indoors like bright sunshine and hot temperatures. Oh, and sweat. I think I’m allergic… to sun… and sweat.

So I’m not simply a wimpy person. I actually do have a good excuse for my type of roughing it.

Boy that relieves my mind! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your turn: Summer or winter? Beaches or Mountains? Swimming or Snow-skiing?ย

Author: Marji Laine

Marji is a recently "graduated" homeschooling mom whose twin girls have blessed her by sticking around the nest for a little longer. She spends her days directing the childrenโ€™s music program at her church and working with the authors of Write Integrity Press to put out the best possible version of their books. Raised in suburban Dallas, she got her first taste of writing through the stories of brilliant authors of their day, Mignon Eberhart and Phyllis A. Whitney, and through stage experience. After directing and acting in productions for decades, Marji started writing her own scripts. From that early beginning, she delved into creating scintillating suspense with a side of Texas sassy. She invites readers to unravel their inspiration, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Lordโ€™s Great Mystery that invites us all.

  1. Oh my gosh! I would SO love that! Even if it does mean “roughing it” a little! LOL!

  2. Summer here in the Black Hills!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s nigh unto perfect. LOL We do have our hot days, but even on the hottest days, our nights are cool. Our average day temp for June through August is 85 (with low humidity) and our average night temp from June through August is 55! I just love summers here. I think if I were in Texas, I would be hiding in the air conditioning all day!!! I do not do well with heat, (or bugs! You would not believe how few bugs we have in the altitude here!!)
