Stop Human Trafficking

Blue Heart campaign2I was shocked earlier this year to learn that I20, which crawls through the south side of the DFW Metroplex, is the country’s main vein for Human Trafficking. This form of slavery isn’t new by any means, but it is relatively young in America, at least on this scale.

Every night, there are at least 400 teens, slaves, along the streets of Dallas alone. Even more when there is a major sporting event like a Ranger baseball game or a Cowboy game.

These women are Continue reading

I SO Left You Hanging! (Don’t you hate that???)

climber-299018_1920I don’t know about you, but I got to the end of Dani’s last story, Grime Spree and was ready to keep going. After all, the final page ends with a huge revelation as Jay cruises up the driveway of his parents’ home.

Visiting the parents? That’s a biggie in a relationship! Something I’d sure want to read about!

My original plan for this series had only 4 books in it, but if I stuck with that, you wouldn’t get to find out what happened between Dani and Jay’s parents. And SO MUCH happened let me Continue reading

Writing – An Exercise in Faith by Elizabeth Noyes

When I grow upIt’s the Dog Daze of Summer, y’all, and I’m delighted to welcome a fellow author from Write Integrity PressElizabeth Noyes. Her book, Imperfect Wings, is one of the special reads this month to help get you through these Dog Daze!

Writing – An Exercise in Faith

I was an early reader and fell in love with books. My favorite stories back then included Nancy Drew, The Black Stallion, Trixie Belden, and (believe it or not) Continue reading

Indie Publishing in a Nutshell

Author or WriterNext week, the 4th book of my Grime Fighter Mystery Novella Series will release from Amazon and I’ve finally gotten my mind wrapped around this process of independent publishing.

I’m not talking about the “self-publishing” of a decade ago. Back then, someone paid a company to print their books. They might end up with a Continue reading

Roughing It

ruffing itCan I be honest?

I’m not an outdoorsy type of person. I just don’t get the thrill of sweat and bugs and sunburns and bug and smoky fires and… oh, yeah. BUGS!

I’m not a fan.

My new, precious daughter-in-love is way into camping and hiking. Her folks have a farm, and being outside is a thrill for her. In fact, if she’s inside, she’s usually huddled under a blanket.

Epiphany! She’s terribly cold-natured. LOVES Texas summers.

I’ve lived here all my life, but nothing drives me indoors like bright sunshine and hot temperatures. Oh, and sweat. I think I’m allergic… to sun… and sweat.

And BUGS!

So I’m not simply a wimpy person. I actually do have a good excuse for my type of roughing it.

Boy that relieves my mind! 🙂

Your turn: Summer or winter? Beaches or Mountains? Swimming or Snow-skiing?

Picking this Story Apart

GF4title-lessToday, I’m setting up my dedication page, discussion questions, and a special item that I want to include. Grime Family will be out in a few weeks. Woohoo! I’m so excited to share this book with you.

While the release is still a couple of weeks off, the cover is done! Yea! And yes, I could simply share it with you today, but the truth is, I already had the cover article set for Thursday before I decided to add today’s post.

I know, lame excuse, will you forgive me?

Okay, if not forgiving me now, then maybe on Thursday when I do end up sharing my new cover. Can’t wait!

Happy Fourth!

EagleflagI’m so thankful to the Lord for the blessings He’s give our country. Oh, how He’s shown His love. In fact, when I hear the song, “God Bless America,” I always think of a bumper sticker I saw that said “America bless God.”

If only we, as a country, would unite ourselves to this purpose as we once did.

What else should we ask from Him? What other blessings are we entitled to?

And yet, He is so gracious and adoring. He lavishes His love on His people. How great is our God. May America come to realize His greatness again!

Celebrating the Fourth… and other things!

GB12x1831Happy Fourth weekend! I hope you’ve got great plans for celebration.

Here in North Texas, it’s HOT HOT HOT! (And not in any sort of good way!) My girls are returning from a retreat in the mountains where they’ve been bragging about the cool climate. My only consolation about the heat is that they’re coming back to the hottest temperatures so far this summer.

Yeah, I’m gonna figure out a way to blame them for it. 🙂

The truth is, I have more than the Fourth of July to celebrate this month! My 4th book in the Grime Fighter Mystery Novella Series releases sometime around the 15th! Woohoo! In honor of GRIME FAMILY I’m offering GRIME BEAT (book 1 of the series) for free this weekend! If you haven’t read it, download the ebook and enjoy!

And be sure to share about this freebie. I’d be happy to never sell another copy of GRIME BEAT again if folks will take full advantage of its “free-ness”!

Your turn: Aside from reading an outstanding book, what do you enjoy doing on the Fourth of July?
