Today’s chapter at Write Integrity Press takes Mara on a twist. Don’t miss the journey.
The story premise: After coming to know the Lord, Mara Adkins feels compelled to try to right the wrongs she committed during her more manipulative days. And she’s got a LOT of victims to encounter. Yet God just might intend that one of them hold her heart.
- Chapter 10 is up today at Write Integrity Press, but there are a few other fun places to check out if you wish!
- Author Fay Lamb’s blog has an interview with today’s hero, Connor, a stair architect.
Mara had a couple of folded up envelopes stuck in her journal at this page. I hope they were something she forgot to deliver during her short career with a messenger service.
From Mara, herself:
Courier
At some point after coming to know the Lord, I learned to put on my make up differently. I’ve started writing across my forehead, “I’m happy to lose my job on your behalf.”
I say that with only half a laugh. On the serious side, I care so much more about people than I ever did before. Most people anyway. The jury is still out about Jared.
On the other hand, how many jobs am I going to lose because of someone else’s mistake?
Then again, I have to be working in order to lose a job, and I am technically not. Go figure. Needless to say, it’s a good time for another road trip.
From the beginning of this journey, I’ve really felt bad for the pain I put all of these men through. But analyzing how difficult it’s been for me to release my anger at Jared makes me wonder at the grace and mercy of these guys. Most of them anyway. I’m awed by how they have been able to treat me with any kindness at all.
I guess that’s what the Lord can do when He’s at work. And He really is at work. I’ve always been a difficult student, though.
Repentantly,
Mara
PS from Marji Laine: A Dozen Apologies provides a special treat—though not as pretty as a makeover, but close—for the readers! You all get to help decide the ending of this book! Too much fun!
The way it works is: A new chapter will post each weekday at Write Integrity Press. Read the 13 chapters (from 12 different authors) and then choose the hero you like the best. The guy who gets the most votes gets the girl! Whoop! And as a bonus, the book itself, which will offer the only chance to see the final chapter, will be free over Valentine weekend! Win-Win!
Your Turn: What’s it going to take for Mara to finally release her anger?
