Review: The Doctor’s Family Reunion by Mindy Obenhaus

Most of the books I read contain one strong character arch. Always the heroine’s. A few of those also include a hero arch, though not usually as strong. After all, in Christian fiction, read by and often written by women, the lady holds the leading role in the story.

The Doctor’s Family Reunion strayed slightly from that norm. Maybe I should also use the adjective successfully. In this story, the hero’s arch is easily as strong and pivotal as the heroine’s. Such a treat!

Review: A Ranch to Call Home by Leann Harris

The last book I read truly provided an oasis during a very busy time. Do you ever get that kind of stress? Like you’re a basketball going from one thing to another, always moving, always full of energy. So when any downtime came – and I mean ANY: grocery lines, carpool, dentist waiting room (just a handful of places I enjoyed over the past two weeks) – I pulled out this book and was wafted away to small town, south of Ft. Worth, with amiable people and a warm inviting story.

I have an new book to review! I LOVE reading Christmas or wintery themes during this season, and this book fits the bill! The perfect size for a relaxing afternoon or a before-bedtime distraction, this story is great for anyone desiring a clean romance.

I’m so excited today to be spending some time with lead character Lily Farnsworth. She’s the heroine from Love In Bloom by Arlene James, Book 1 of The Heart of Main Street continuity series from Love Inspired. She sounds like an intriguing character, but I think I’ve pegged her archetype. See if you can!

Freezing Point Hits the Spot

Elizabeth Goddard's new book, Freezing Point certainly gave me chills! The romantic suspense, set in southern California, surrounds undercover agent, Jesse Mitchell, who poses as an ice sculptor. His task is to find out who is smuggling things in shipments of ice. The case becomes complicated when a new investigative reporter, Casey Wilkes, arrives at his place of business to interview him and create a human interest story based on an ice sculpting contest he enters. Dealing with the article and keeping his cover is hard enough, but adding a stalker from Casey's past turns complicated into catastrophic.

Ms. Goddard weaves the details of her stories in and out of so many knots, it's hard to believe how they could ever be unraveled and tied up neatly, but she has succeeded in the past, and she succeeds in this book by Love Inspired Suspense.

I just finished Camy Tang's Deadly Intent. Can I just say, "WOW!"

This story is more than a suspense novel. The plot weaves in and out of the characters' lives with a master's touch.

Undercover Pursuit by Susan May Warren

Undercover Pursuit by Susan May Warren had me intrigued from the first page. I examined it along with several other books I recently downloaded, just looking through the first few pages for their hooks, the ways that they connected with the reader. Wow, did U.P. ever connect! From the get-go, I had trouble putting it down.
